Ariana Grande to step back from spotlight amid public concern over her health
Ariana Grande is set to take a break after she finishes her "Eternal Sunshine" tour in London on September 1.
A representative for the "Wicked" star confirmed the news in a statement sent to People.
“She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily, and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny,” the statement read.
Ariana has also opted out of the West End production of "Sunday in the Park with George," where she was set to star opposite Jonathan Bailey.
The pop star's overall health and well-being have been widely discussed on social media, especially after she released the music video for her song, "Petal," in late July, which raised concerns about her physical appearance.
In the comments section of the "Petal" music video teaser on her Instagram, some fans expressed concern over her health and wished her healing.
“I truly hope she finds the peace she is looking for and to cope in healthier ways,” an Instagram user named @bloodlustelf commented. “I love her music but it hurts to see her like this.”
Ariana released her eighth studio album, "Petal," on July 31, which includes the single "Hate That I Made You Love Me."
Before the release of "Petal," she took a break from music to play Glinda in the musical films "Wicked" and "Wicked: For Good," but she reassured fans that she was not abandoning music.
Ariana is also set to star in the film “Focker-in-Law,” slated for a November release.
