Sophia Laforteza's mom thankful for support after idol announced hiatus from KATSEYE

Sophia Laforteza's mother, Carla Guevara Laforteza, expressed her gratitude to fans after the idol announced her hiatus from the group.

In an Instagram post, Carla thanked everyone for the messages of concern and prayers for Sophia.

"The girls work so hard that they forget they're human who need rest. So rest and recover she shall," the theater actress said.

"And we are ever so grateful to their management that they are looking after them very well and prioritizing the girls' health and well-being above all!" she added.

Sophia's hiatus was announced on August 7, Friday. She will be taking a break to focus on her mental health and well-being, Hybe and Geffen said in a joint statement posted on Weverse.

"Sophia has been receiving the utmost support, and following thorough consultations with medical professionals, it has been advised that she take dedicated time for extended rest and ongoing care to ensure a full recovery," the statement added.

In an Instagram Story, Sophia said the decision broke her heart.

"You know how much I love being on stage, performing, and sharing these moments with you," she said, and promised to come back stronger.

She previously missed the Hanterland Music Festival due to illness.

Katseye debuted in 2023 with six members and visited Manila in 2024 for a fan showcase, appearances, and collabs.

In February, Manon went on hiatus, and two months later, she removed Katseye from her Instagram bio but said she remains in positive communication with Hybe and Geffen.

Katseye is known for their songs "Gabriela," "Gnarly," "Gameboy," "Touch," and "Debut."

Their latest single "Animal" came out in July.
