NBA: Nate Robinson to sign deal with the Bulls
Point guard Nate Robinson is slated to join the Chicago Bulls, Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated.com reports, citing Robinson's agent Aaron Goodwin. Goodwin told Amick that Robinson was slated to sign the contract with Chicago on Monday evening (Tuesday, PHL time), but Amick later tweeted out that the signing has been moved Tuesday morning (late Tuesday, PHL time).
A 5'9" point guard drafted in the first round in 2005 by the New York Knicks, Robinson is a three-time NBA Slam Dunk champion, despite his lack of height. Robinson was waived by the Oklahoma City Thunder prior to the start of the 2011-12 season, before signing with the Golden State Warriors in January. He played 51 games with them, including nine starts, where he averaged 11.2 points, 2.0 rebounds, and a career-best 4.5 assists. He is expected to ink a one-year deal worth the veteran's minimum of $1.2 million, and will help Chicago try to deal with the ACL injury to former MVP point guard Derrick Rose. The Bulls also brought back guard Kirk Hinrich and drafted Marquis Teague with the 29th overall pick in the first round of the 2012 Draft. - AMD, GMA NewsRe: Nate Robinson-to-Chicago, he is now expected to sign in the morning. — Sam Amick (@sam_amick) July 31, 2012
