PBA: AZ Reid hints at officiating woes after SMB loss to NLEX

The Daniel Orton tirade cast a chilling effect on speaking against the PBA's referees, but that did not stop Arizona Reid from hinting on officiating issues after San Miguel Beer suffered a meltdown against NLEX on Tuesday.

"Gotta be careful," said the import while speaking to reporters after the game. "I'm not gonna say anything stupid; it will be fined, that's for sure."

Reid, however, indirectly pointed to the calls and non-calls as the reason why the Beermen lost grip of the match after leading by as many as 21 point in the third quarter.

"How many free throws did they take, fourth quarter? They take at least 15, maybe 20 free throws, in the fourth," he said. "Very interesting."

The Road Warriors had 18 attempts from the charity stripe in the final quarter, connecting on 14 that helped them close the gap and turn the tables on the Philippine Cup champions.

In contrast, SMB only had four free throw attempts in the fourth, knocking down three. Reid never went to the line in the final 12 minutes, and only had a 2-of-3 clip from the stripe the entire game.

"I take three free throws the whole game," said the import, who scored 27 points. "I'm the import. Have you heard that before? Import taking three free throws for the game? Three?"

Thornton, meanwhile, went 12-of-15 from the line for NLEX, which only took the lead in the last four minutes of the game.

"Merry Christmas, I guess? Early Christmas present," Reid said of the Road Warriors' victory. - RAF, GMA News
