PBA: Hontiveros, Castro engage in verbal clash during heated Alaska-Talk 'n Text game

Before Alaska coach Alex Compton and Talk 'n Text import Ivan Johnson engaged in a shouting match in the endgame, Dondon Hontiveros and Jayson Castro were also caught in a verbal run-in when the two teams clashed on Sunday night.

Hontiveros attempted to swat the ball from Tropang Texter wingman Matt Ganuelas-Rosser at the 3:14 mark of the fourth quarter, but his hand was too late and he hit the rookies' eyes instead.

"Akala ni Jayson, sinadya ko pero kung makita sa replay, nandun 'yung bola pag hampas ko e," said the veteran shooting guard. "Ang mali ko rin kasi napalakas ba, napunta sa mata."

With his teammate hurt, Castro confronted the Cebuano hotshot and they were both issued warnings by the referees. The two, however, patched things up after the misunderstanding was cleared.

"Accident lang naman, hindi naman talaga intentional. Nag-apologize naman which is okay naman. At saka nag-apologize ako," said the Talk 'n Text guard.

Hontiveros kept pointing to the projector during their confrontation, gesturing the replay to the Talk 'n Text bench and to coach Jong Uichico.
