PBA: Jayson Castro named Best Player of the Conference, Wayne Chism is Best Import

Talk 'N Text guard Jayson Castro won the Best Player of the Conference for the second straight Commissioner's Cup, besting Rain or Shine guard Paul Lee by a huge margin.

The award was announced on Wednesday night, just before the tipoff of Game Four of the finals series between the Tropang Texters and the Elasto Painters.

Castro led the race with a total of 1164 points, while Lee finished second with 782. San Miguel Beer center June Mar Fajardo ranked third with 542 points.

GlobalPort guard Terrence Romeo came in fourth with 408 points, while Barangay Ginebra center Greg Slaughter completed the top five with 404.

It is the third time Castro won the BPC honors, bagging the award in the 2013 Philippine Cup and last year's mid-season conference.

Rain or Shine reinforcement Wayne Chism, meanwhile, was named the Best Import after averaging 26.9 points and 14.6 rebounds while leading the Elasto Painters to a 2-1 lead in the finals.

He was the runaway victor with 1160 points, comfortably ahead of Talk 'N Text's Ivan Johnson with 873.

Purefoods import Denzel Bowles, who led in the statistics department, came in third with 666, while Meralco's Josh Davis finished fourth with 501. —JST, GMA News
