PBA: Ganuelas-Rosser on taking a ball to the face: 'That's not part of basketball'

Despite getting thrown out of the game, Talk 'N Text rookie Matt Ganuelas-Rosser did not think much of his tussle with Rain or Shine wingman Jireh Ibanes in the fourth quarter.

Ganuelas-Rosser tried to push Ibanes at the 9:47 mark of the fourth, but the veteran grabbed his jersey and pulled him as he fell into the railing.

The two were ejected for fighting, but for Ganuelas-Rosser, it was simply part of the game.

"I'm trying to box him out. He's trying to get the ball. It got physical. That's just part of the game," he said. "Me and Jireh, we're too competitive, just playing hard."

But while he downplayed the incident that led to his ejection, he had a different perspective about taking a ball to the face from Elasto Painter big man JR Quinahan.

"Getting the ball thrown, that's not part of basketball. For me that's a little too much," he said. "I don't anybody should get hit in the face with a basketball."

Ganuelas-Rosser said it was the first time he ever received a ball to the face, but he refused to comment on whether the flagrant foul penalty two slapped on Quinahan was an apt punishment.

"It's really not for me to decide," he said. "All I can say about that is that it's not a basketball play." - RAF, GMA News
