PBA: Romeo Travis wants to come back and give Alaska a championship after playing 'terrible' vs San Miguel

Romeo Travis has done it all for Alaska in the Governors' Cup. He led the team to the number one seed after the eliminations, played his best game of the conference against Barangay Ginebra in the quarterfinals, and carried the team to a stunning sweep of defending champions Star Hotshots in the semifinals.

But after his solid performance thus far, he fell into mediocrity in the finals series against San Miguel Beer as the Aces found themselves in the wrong end of yet another playoff sweep.

"It was a bad series for me, a bad way to end the year. It's a bad taste in your mouth," Travis told reporters after Alaska bowed 91-81 in Game Four on Friday night.

The southpaw reinforcement shot 36.5 percent in four games against the Beermen, averaging 17.25 points and 7.75 rebounds, a far cry from his 61 percent clip, 22 points and 11.33 rebounds against the Hotshots.

"I played terrible. There's no way around it," he said. "There's no nice way to say it but I played horrible."

Travis said he should have played better and helped Alaska win the championship, but instead it was his teammates who helped him win the Best Import award.

"That goes to my teammates because we were a really good team," he said. "If I had those numbers on a really bad team I probably wouldn't be here talking to you now. I'll probably get sent home."

"How good of a team we were is the reason why I got [Best] Import of the Conference," he added.

Unable to give the Aces their 15th title, Travis said he wants to come back to fulfill unfinished business for the PBA franchise.

"I don't like to leave the great fans of Alaska like this," he said. "If they invite me back I'll come back for sure. Hopefully it ends a little different next time." - RAF, GMA News
