Alaska head coach Alex Compton did not hide his disappointment with his wards after the Aces fell to a 0-3 hole against Rain or Shine on Wednesday night.
The team came out with a lackluster effort defensively on crucial Game Three, allowing the Elasto Painters to break the game wide open as early as the second quarter.
The Elasto Painters even led by 27 points in the third quarter, until Alaska decided to finally step on the gas and trim the final score to 112-108 with the E-Painters already relaxed in clutch time.
"You can’t play that way in a finals game. I felt there was a stretch there that was the most disappointing stretch of basketball that I recall seeing Alaska play," Compton said in the post-game press conference.
The coach said the Aces weren't locked in and dishonored the game by not playing with energy.
"We prepared, we went through all the stuff. We weren’t ready. Shocking. It was shocking," he said. "That really felt like an aberration to me. I didn’t feel like that was our team."
Asked about trying to pull off a miraculous comeback like San Miguel Beer did to the Aces last conference, Compton said his team is going to have to earn it one game at a time.
"Honestly at this point, for me, it is absolutely about pride. You don’t win three games or three games on Friday," he said.
"If you want to get there, you gotta win the possession in front of you. There’s no four-game win," he said. — APG, GMA News
