Asi Taulava replaces Greg Slaughter in South All-Star lineup
Asi Taulava has replaced injured Greg Slaughter in the starting lineup of the South team in the PBA All-Star game at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum on August 7.
It is a record 14th All-Star appearance for the 43-year-old center, whose mother hails from Samar province.
The NLEX slotman will join San Miguel Beer's June Mar Fajardo, Barangay Ginebra's Joe Devance and Scottie Thompson, and Star's James Yap as first five of the South team.
Slaughter was voted by the fans into the starting lineup, but he is still recuperating from an ankle surgery he had to undergo in the off season.
Led by Philippine Cup champion coach Leo Austria, the South bench will be composed of Jeff Chan, JR Quinahan, Jericho Cruz, Chris Ross, Mark Barroca, RR Garcia, Carlo Lastimosa.
The team will play against the North All-Star with Ginebra's Japeth Aguilar and Mark Caguioa, Star's Marc Pingris, Alaska's Calvin Abueva, and GlobalPort's Terrence Romeo.
The North, which will be coached by Commissioner's Cup champion Yeng Guiao, will have Jayson Castro, Alex Cabagnot, Gabe Norwood, Paul Lee, Ranidel De Ocampo, Stanley Pringle, and Troy Rosario as their bench players. —NB, GMA News
