Gilas Pilipinas Boys down Thailand, advance to FIBA U18 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers semis
The Gilas Pilipinas Youth Men’s team defeated host Thailand, 98-63, on Friday to complete a sweep of the group stage of the FIBA U18 Asia Cup SEABA Qualifiers and secure a spot in the semifinals.
It was another dominant performance by the young Filipinos despite a competitive opening quarter, where Gilas held a slim 21-15 advantage. The Philippines extended its lead to 47-33 by halftime before pulling away in the second half, holding Thailand to just 15 points in both the third and fourth quarters en route to the convincing victory.
Prince Cariño led the way with 18 points, while Hans Patagoc added 15 to pace the Gilas squad.
Joaquin Tovera contributed 13 points, seven assists, three steals, and two rebounds, while Ethan Aguas and Bruce Tubongbanua chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Chog Moral finished with eight points, six rebounds, three assists, and one steal, while Andrew Chio tallied seven points, six rebounds, and three steals. Patrick Pasinos added six points, while Kyle Sardon scored four. Ziv Espinas and Louis Razon chipped in two points apiece.
Phurich Benjaaryiakul scored 15 points, while Lorenzo Ravazzini added 10 to lead Thailand.
The Gilas Boys, who topped Group A, will face Group B runner-up Malaysia in the semifinals, while Thailand will take on Indonesia in the other semifinal matchup.
