Divine Adili's remains arrive in UAE ahead of repatriation to Nigeria
The remains of Divine Adili have arrived in the United Arab Emirates as the late Ateneo de Manila University big man nears his final journey home to Nigeria.
Ateneo shared the update on Wednesday as Adili and his companions now await the final leg of his journey back home.
“Divine Adili and his companions have safely arrived in the United Arab Emirates and are awaiting the final leg of their journey to Nigeria,” Ateneo said.
“Upon his arrival in Lagos, Divine will be received by representatives of Ateneo de Manila University, the Jesuits in Nigeria, and the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs before being reunited with his family and loved ones.”
Adili’s repatriation started on June 22, Monday, following a public wake at the Arlington Memorial Chapels in Quezon City.
His teammate, Rene Baterbonia, who also died in the same drowning incident in Aurora on June 8, has been laid to rest on Wednesday.
“As Divine nears home, we continue to hold him, his family, and all who mourn him in our prayers, entrusting him to God’s loving care and mercy.”
