Mike Phillips, Kent Pastrana hailed as Collegiate Basketball Players of the Year

De La Salle University's Mike Phillips and the University of Santo Tomas' Kent Pastrana have been named the Collegiate Basketball Players of the Year by the Collegiate Press Corps during its annual Awards Night, which will be held on Monday.

Phillips was a cornerstone of the Green Archers' championship run, averaging 13.3 points and 13.7 rebounds in the Finals.

He helped lead the Taft-based squad past top-seeded National University in the Final Four before defeating the University of the Philippines in the championship series, where he was named Finals MVP.

Pastrana, meanwhile, will receive her second Collegiate Women's Player of the Year award after leading the Golden Tigresses back to the title. In the Finals, where she was also named MVP, the graduating student averaged 13.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 3.8 steals.

Phillips also headlines the men's Mythical Team alongside Far Eastern University's Janrey Pasaol, UST's Collins Akowe, Colegio de San Juan de Letran's Jonathan Manalili, and San Beda University's Janti Miller.

Pastrana, meanwhile, is joined on the women's Mythical Team by teammate Brigette Santos, National University's Karl Ann Pingol and Kristine Cayabyab, and Ateneo de Manila University's Kacey Dela Rosa.

The Collegiate Press Corps Awards is presented by Strong Group Athletics.
