La Salle coaches Topex Robinson, Ramil de Jesus banner Collegiate Press Corps Coaches of the Year awardees

De La Salle University coaches Topex Robinson (men’s basketball) and Ramil de Jesus (women’s volleyball) headline the list of Coaches of the Year honorees to be recognized by the Collegiate Press Corps during its Awards Night on Monday.

Robinson guided the Green Archers to their second championship in three seasons last December. After finishing fourth at the end of the elimination round, La Sale went on to upset top-seeded National University in the Final Four before outlasting the University of the Philippines in another classic three-game Finals series.

Meanwhile, De Jesus, one of the most successful coaches in Philippine collegiate volleyball history, steered the Lady Spikers to the UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball championship. The Taft-based squad completed a season sweep en route to securing its 13th title.

Also set to be honored is Haydee Ong of the University of Santo Tomas, who led the Golden Tigresses back to the UAAP women’s basketball throne. Dante Alinsunurin of the NU men's volleyball team, meanwhile, will be recognized for their sixth straight title.

From the NCAA, Yuri Escueta will once again receive recognition after guiding San Beda University back to the men’s basketball championship. De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde’s Arnold Laniog and Colegio de San Juan de Letran rookie head coach Mayeth Carolino will likewise be honored after leading their respective teams to the NCAA men’s and women’s volleyball titles.
