Angel Canino, Lara Mae Silva, Leo Ordiales, Reymark Betco named Collegiate Volleyball Players of the Year

Angel Canino of De La Salle University, Lara Mae Silva of Colegio de San Juan de Letran, Leo Ordiales of National University, and Reymark Betco of De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde have been named the Volleyball Players of the Year in the 2026 Collegiate Press Corps Awards.

Canino will receive her second Collegiate Press Corps Player of the Year award after first earning the honor three years ago.

In UAAP Season 88, Canino was one of the cornerstones of the Lady Spikers' championship run, leading De La Salle to a sweep of the finals and its 13th women's volleyball title.

She finished with 17 points, nine digs, and five excellent receptions in Game 1 before posting a triple-double of 11 points, 10 digs, and 10 excellent receptions in Game 2 to help seal the championship.

Ordiales, meanwhile, delivered standout performances in the UAAP men's finals, scoring 22 points against Far Eastern University in Game 1 before erupting for 24 points in Game 2 to lead National University to the title.

Silva capped her collegiate career by helping Letran end a 28-year championship drought.

She collected 37 digs in Game 1 against defending champion Benilde, followed by 24 digs and seven excellent receptions in Game 2 despite the loss. Silva then tallied 33 digs in the deciding Game 3 as Letran clinched the championship.

Betco also starred in Benilde's three-game finals series against Mapúa University, leading the Blazers back to the NCAA men's volleyball crown after a nine-year wait.

He recorded 26 points and nine digs in Game 1 despite the loss to the Cardinals, exploded for 33 points in Game 2 to level the series, and finished with 17 points and six digs in the title-clinching Game 3 victory.

The event and the volleyball awards are backed by Strong Group Athletics, with the winners selected through deliberation by members of the media covering collegiate volleyball.
