Pacquiao admits his heart is still 50-50 on retirement

Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao has been adamant about his decision to retire from boxing after his fight against Timothy Bradley, saying that he wants to focus on his family and political career going forward.

Pacquiao, 37, is seeking a Senate seat in the May elections after serving as Sarangani representative in the 15th and 16th congress.

With his dominant victory against the younger Bradley, however, boxing reporters could not help but ask if he has changed his mind about hanging up his gloves for good.

"Let me enjoy first a retired life. If you ask me to come back, I don't know. I have a commitment to my family. I made my decision already," Pacquiao said in the post-fight press conference.

But another reporter caught him off guard with an observation that it seems his family wants him to retire more than he wants it for himself.

Pacquiao smiled and paused before telling the reporter, "You're good, huh."

"My heart is 50-50 but I love my family, I honor my family, my kids," the eight-division world champion admitted.

He said, however, that he is not closing his doors for a possible return to the ring.

"Like I said, I might enjoy my retired life. I might come back. It's hard to say because I'm not there yet," he said.
