Horn fight his last? Pacquiao says 'hindi pa tapos'
Eight-division boxing champ and senator Manny Pacquiao believes his coming July 2 fight with Australian Jeff Horn in Brisbane for the WBO welterweight championship won't be the last fight of his career in the ring.
On Wednesday, Pacquiao's coach Freddie Roach said if the Filipino boxer struggles this Sunday during the fight, "it could be over."
“If he wins and struggles, we might have to think about calling it a day. He's had a quite few fights, we're getting close to the end, I know. I think he has, maybe a couple more fights in him. If he struggles in this fight, it could be over,” Roach said.
In an interview with Connie Sison on Unang Balita on Friday, however, Pacquiao confidently said: "'Yan ang gusto nating ipakita... Hindi pa tapos."
Pacquiao believes he will make a mark in Brisbane because of the intense preparation and training conducted by his camp.
"First fight ko dito sa Australia. Fifty thousand ang audience. Maganda itong gawing ebidensya na hindi pa tapos," said Pacquiao.
Regarding the issue of an alleged mismatch between Pacquiao and Horn, the Filipino champ dismissed it and said, "Hindi natin dapat i-underestimate si Jeff. Undefeated siya at hometown niya. Ingat din tayo at mapanalo."
Pacquiao added he is not intimidated with Horn's deadly right hand punch."
Hindi na bago sa 'kin ang mga ganyan," he said.
