McGregor is Pacman’s top pick for opponent in 2021 boxing ring comeback

Filipino boxing champ and Senator Manny Pacquiao on Monday said he wants to fight 32-year-old Conor McGregor next year as he enters the boxing ring again.

Pacquaio, who just turned 42, said in an ANC interview that he wants a boxing match in 2021 because he misses to exercise.

Asked whom among McGregor, Terence Crawford, and Errol Spence would be on top of his list of possible opponents in the ring, Pacquiao said: "Sa akin, McGregor... because I want to experience to fight an MMA fighter."

Talks of a potential match between the two first surfaced in late September after both of them confirmed that they are negotiating for a fight next year.

Pacquiao, however, said in the interview that he has yet to entertain offers for possible matches because he had also been busy with his duty as a public servant.

"Siguro by January pwede na ako mag-start na pag-usapan 'yang about my boxing career," he said.

"Sa akin naman di ako namimili ng kalaban eh. In my experience in boxing, 'di na ako talagang namimili as long as pareho kami ng timbang at magkakasundo kami sa timbang na paglalabanan namin ay lalaban ako," he added.

McGregor, who was a former UFC featherweight and lightweight world champion, accepted UFC's offer to fight Dustin Poirier on January 23.

He, nonetheless, looks forward to a boxing fight with Pacquaio whom he said would be "next." — RSJ, GMA News
