Ryan Garcia says fight with Manny Pacquiao 'not happening right now'
The fight between Manny Pacquiao and Ryan Garcia won't materialize any time soon, after all.
Garcia himself made the announcement on Instagram, Tuesday, posting a brief statement in his IG Stories.
"To all my fans and supporters my fight with Manny Pacquiao is not happening right now," he wrote.
"I tried my best after getting the call to fight him but didn't happen due to some issues I didn't expect to come up but I'm already working on the next fight," he added.
Garcia first announced the fight in January and Pacquiao's camp confirmed negotiations were ongoing in February.
The 22-year-old WBC interim lightweight champion has a perfect record of 21-0 with 18 knockouts.
Pacquiao, meanwhile, has not fought since he defeated Keith Thurman in July 2019 where he claimed the WBA world welterweight title.
"I will always see Manny as an inspiration and someone who is a legend and I respect," Garcia said. "Wish the best for him in life and boxing."
