Vincent Astrolabio to fight for world title soon — WBC President

Vincent Astrolabio is headed to another world title shot soon.

Astrolabio, 19-4 with 14 knockouts, is a one-time world title challenger and is the no.1 WBC bantamweight contender.

According to WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, who was in the Philippines for the first Pacquiao Elorde Awards, Astrolabio is in line for a world championship match.

"He is the mandatory challenger so he will be fighting for the title soon and hopefully he will become the WBC champion," Sulaiman said in an exclusive interview.

"We will review in a couple of weeks all the divisions to start scheduling the mandatory for each division."

The WBC bantamweight world title is currently held by Japanese star and three-division champion Junto Nakatani.

Astrolabio, meanwhile, emerged as a contender by defeating Navapon Kaikanha via technical knockout last August.

According to the WBC head, a showdown between Astrolabio and Nakatani will be 'sensational.'

"It is a great fight. [Astrolabio] went to Thailand, had a dramatic knockout, and he has punching power," Sulaiman stated.

"Nakatani is a very good champion. It will be fireworks, it will be a sensational match."
