Wuhan Open: Alex Eala in the Round of 64

Alex Eala continues her season as she opens her campaign in the Toray Pan Pacific Open, where she is seeking some redemption amid a tough Asian Swing.

The eighth-seeded world No. 20 Filipina will face 17-year-old Mika Stojsavljevic of Great Britain in the Round of 32.

Stojsavljevic, who made her Grand Slam main draw debut in the 2025 Wimbledon, is currently ranked No. 308 in the world and had a career-high rank of No. 261 she achieved last June.

She has yet to face Eala in the WTA Tour, which makes her a dangerous opponent for the Philippine pride.

Eala, for her part, is also looking to redeem herself following a string of early exits in the Asian Swing.

She first absorbed a Round of 16 loss in the Singapore Open before losing to lower-ranked Han Shi of China in the Wuhan Open Round of 32. Before heading to Japan, Eala also fell in the Round of 16 of Ningbo Open with a 7-5, 6-4 loss to Russian Diana Shnaider.
