SEA Games: Slow medal day for PHL with 3 silvers, 5 bronzes

The Philippines came out empty-handed in the gold medal tally on Saturday as the country added only three silvers and five bronzes to their Southeast Asian Games haul.
Ruben Gonzales Jr. and Jeson Patrombon settled for the silver medal after losing to Thailand's Sanchai and Sonchat Ratiwatana in men's doubles, 6-4, 6-4.
Emerson Villena and Lester Troy Tayong also bagged a silver in sailing, while Francis Aaron Agojo notched the country's third second place finish of the day in men's under-58kg Taekwondo.
Tennis duo Treat Huey and Francis Alcantara, meanwhile, got the bronze in men's doubles behind compatriots Gonzales and Patrombon. They faced the eventual gold medalists, the Ratiwatana pair, in the semis but failed to set up the All-Filipino final with a close 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 loss.
Alshamier Ibnohasim, Juanillio Ballesta, and Clyde Joy Baria also won separate bronze medals in Indonesian martial art Pencak Silat, while Levita Ronna Ilao completed the country's haul as she finished third place in women's under-49kg Taekwondo .
The Philippines remains in sixth place with 24 gold, 32 silver, and 59 bronze medals, while Thailand overtook host country Singapore at the top with 78 golds. Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia rank third, fourth, and fifth place, respectively. - RAF, GMA News
