Welding works ongoing at PhilSports Arena after announced ready for SEA Games
After being announced as complete and ready for the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, the Multi-Purpose Arena at the PhilSports Complex in Pasig City is still being polished with welding works on Tuesday.
According to a report of Bam Alegre on GMA News’ Unang Balita, construction workers were seen doing some welding works at the arena around 6 a.m.
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) on Monday said in a Facebook post that the Multi-Purpose Arena is “now complete and ready for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.”
The SEA Games' men’s and women’s indoor volleyball games are set to be held at the arena on December 2 and 10.
New seats in the patron and lower box areas were already installed in the arena.
Hours before the conduct of SEA Games’ men's football game on Monday, renovation at another venue, the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila, was also still ongoing.
Management advised its workers to finish the renovation and remove all scaffolding exactly at 10 a.m. considering the 4 p.m. schedule of the football game.
Five hours before the event, a 46-year-old construction worker fell on the taken down scaffolding amid heavy rainfall. He was rushed to the hospital sustaining a leg injury. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
