Roger Casugay named 'Fair Play Athlete' of SEA Games
Filipino surfer Roger Casugay was hailed as the "Fair Play Athlete" of the 30th Southeast Asian Games during the closing ceremony on Wednesday at the New Clark City.
The men's longboard gold medalist rescued Arip Nurhidayat in the middle of their competition when the Indonesian surfer broke his leash and got swept by the waves.
Casugay won hearts in social media for his kind act and even Indonesian president Joko Widodo expressed his appreciation for saving his compatriot.
President Rodrigo Duterte also met Casugay on a courtesy call in Malacañang.

Meanwhile, Wen Quah Zheng of Singapore and Thi Ahn Vien Nguyen were named as the "Best Male and Female Mega Athletes" for their multiple medals in swimming.
