Alex Eala climbs 53 spots in WTA rankings, now at world no. 662
Filipina tennis ace Alex Eala reached another career-high ranking, based on the Women's Tennis Association's (WTA) rankings update released on Monday.
Eala is now WTA's no. 662, 53 spots ahead of her previous ranking at 715.
The rankings were released a week after the 15-year old won back-to-back matches in the W60 Bellinzona, where she ended her campaign at the third round.
The 53-spot climb is also her second-biggest jump in the WTA rankings. In February, Eala moved up 140 spots to no. 763 from 903.
Eala won her first professional title back in January in the W15 Manacor tournament.
Meanwhile, she is still the International Tennis Federation's no. 3 in the women's junior rankings and no. 1729 in the women's singles rankings. —Justin Kenneth Carandang/JMB, GMA News
