Stephen Fuertes, Maristella Torrecampo rule secondary tennis in 2026 Palarong Pambansa

AGUSAN DEL SUR — Stephen Fuertes and Maristella Torrecampo topped the men's and women's secondary tennis division on Thursday at the Datu Lipus Makapandong Governor D.O. Sports Complex.

Davaoeño tennis bet Fuertes defeated North Cotabato's Jan Gecosala, 8-5, to emerge as the champion in the high school tennis competition while Bicol's Torrecampo pulled off an 8-7 (4) win over NCR representative Jana Diaz to rule the girls' category.

Before reaching the finals, Fuertes, a student at Cor Jesu College, defeated Inigo Barrios in the semifinals with a dominant 8-1 victory.

Torrecampo, who studies at the American School of English, Math, and Sciences in Naga City, eked out a similar 8-1 victory over Avegail Ansay of NCR to punch her ticket to the championship round.
