EJ Obiena struck for his first gold medal of the 2026 outdoor season after ruling the Czeslaw Cybulski Memorial in Poznan, Poland on early Monday (Manila time).
The Filipino pole vault ace soared past 5.72 meters to take home the top honors, beating 10 other competitors, including four Polish bets led by world No. 21 Piotr Lisek.
Obiena only attempted three heights, clearing 5.40 meters on his first try before needing two jumps to clear 5.60 meters. He then proceeded to 5.72 meters, which he cleared on his second attempt to secure the title.
Owen Heard of Great Britain took home the silver with 5.60 meters while Italy's Matteo Oliveri settler for bronze with 5.60 meters as well.
