Alex Eala vs Iga Swiatek: Wimbledon Edition

RECAP: Eala vs Swiatek

Eala and Swiatek have faced each other twice before, making their Wimbledon Round of 32 clash tonight the third meeting of their careers.

Beyond their meetings on the WTA Tour, Eala and Swiatek have also crossed paths several times at the Rafa Nadal Academy, where they have shared training sessions and academy events over the years.

Ahead of the highly anticipated matchup, the Rafa Nadal Academy on Saturday shared a photo of Eala and Swiatek together from Eala's 2023 graduation.

Eala expects another difficult challenge against the former world No. 1.

"I think it's going to be tough for me. I'm going to try to make it tough for her as well. I'm ready to face it head on," Eala said.

Swiatek, meanwhile, acknowledged Eala's unique style of play and said she will need to be prepared for it.

"She has a tricky game. I can assume that on grass it's even more tricky because of the surface. She doesn't give that rhythm. I will need to be ready for different kinds of shots," Swiatek said.

Here's a recap of their previous meetings:

2025 Miami Open: Eala def. Swiatek, 6-2, 7-5

2025 Madrid Open: Swiatek def. Eala, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2

Alex Eala vs Iga Swiatek: Wimbledon Edition

Alexandra Eala will face world No. 3 Iga Swiatek for the third time in her career when they meet in the Wimbledon Round of 32.

Eala advanced after defeating Maya Joint, 3-6, 6-2, 6-0, in the second round, while Swiatek booked her place in the third round with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Karolina Pliskova.

The two first met at the Miami Open in 2025, where Eala stunned the Polish star, 6-2, 7-5.

Swiatek evened their head-to-head later that year at the Madrid Open, rallying for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory.

Their Wimbledon clash will also mark their first meeting on grass. Their previous encounters came on hard court in Miami and on clay in Madrid.

"I think it's going to be tough for me," Eala said in a press conference.

"I'm going to try to make it tough for her, as well. It's a different surface than we've played at before, so I think definitely there should be some different aspects to the last time.

"She's won a Slam on grass. She's won a Slam on clay. She's won a slam on hard so I'm expecting a great challenge."
