Who is Jasmine Paolini? Alex Eala's opponent in the Wimbledon Round of 16

Alexandra Eala is set to face Jasmine Paolini once again, this time in the Wimbledon Round of 16.

Paolini, a 30-year-old Italian, is currently ranked World No. 17 after reaching a career-high No. 4 in October 2024.

The upcoming match will mark their second meeting in singles following their encounter at the Dubai Tennis Championships earlier this year.

In that Round of 32 clash, Eala stunned Paolini, 6-1, 7-6(5), to advance.

The two have also met in doubles. At last year's Italian Open, Paolini and partner Sara Errani defeated Eala and Coco Gauff, 7-5, 3-6, 10-7.

Eala heads into the match after pulling off one of the biggest wins of her career, dethroning defending champion Iga Swiatek, 7-6(9), 6-2, to reach the fourth round.

Paolini, meanwhile, booked her place in the Round of 16 with a commanding 6-1, 6-2 victory over Maria Sakkari.
