Espejo, FC Tokyo grab first win at the expense of Bagunas' Oita Miyoshi
Marck Espejo and FC Tokyo have finally ended their losing skid after trouncing fellow Filipino spiker Bryan Bagunas' Oita Miyoshi in straight sets, 25-17, 25-18, 25-22, in the 2021 Japan V. League on Friday at the Showa Denko Martial Arts Center.
The victory gave Espejo's club its first win of the season to tie Oita Miyoshi in eighth place with a 1-6 win-loss card.
Espejo, who reinforced Oita back in 2018, paced his team with 11 points built on 7 attacks, three blocks, and a service ace as his efforts did not go for naught this time around.
Bagunas, meanwhile, had a tough showing after the national team mainstay was limited to a season-low two points.
With the latest defeat, Oita extended its losing streak to six with their lone win coming from a four-set victory over Sakai Blazers on the opening day last October 16.
No break for both teams as Oita and FC Tokyo will face off for a rematch on Saturday, November 6, at 2 p.m.
