Alas Pilipinas men and women qualify for Asian Games
The Philippine men’s and women’s volleyball teams Alas Pilipinas have qualified for the 2026 Asian Games, according to the Philippine Olympic Committee.
Both teams made the cut as the women’s team is at No. 10, while the men’s team is at No. 15 in the FIVB rankings, as the Asian Volleyball Confederation confirmed the Philippines' entry.
A total of 16 teams each will compete in the Asiad which will run from September 27 to October 3.
In the men’s division, also qualified are Japan, Iran, Pakistan, South Korea, China, Indonesia, Thailand, Qatar, Bahrain, Chinese Taipei, India, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Hong Kong.
The women’s side, meanwhile, will have Japan, Kazakhstan, Iran, China, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Vietnam, Qatar, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan, India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Mongolia, and North Korea.
The men’s team finished 13th at the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023, while the women’s squad returns to the tournament after missing the previous edition.
The Philippine beach volleyball teams, meanwhile, will also compete in the Asian Games with 12 teams competing in the said event as the country plans to field at least 700 athletes to the continental meet.
