MMDA: Number coding scheme resumes Friday
With the weather finally improving after days of heavy rain, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority is reimposing the number coding scheme on Friday.
The MMDA announced this in a post on its Twitter account late Thursday afternoon, after three days of having to lift it due to bad weather conditions.
"Number Coding will be back IN EFFECT tomorrow, Aug. 10, Friday," it said.
Under the number coding scheme, vehicles whose plate numbers end in 9 and 0 will be barred from major thoroughfares from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday.
On Tuesday, the MMDA initially said the number coding was in effect, but lifted it early Tuesday morning due to bad weather.
The number coding was also lifted on Wednesday, also due to bad weather.
For Thursday, the MMDA lifted the number coding scheme for the entire Metro Manila, amid heavy rain on Wednesday.
Heavy rain pounded Metro Manila earlier this week, bringing floods and forcing the suspension of work and classes.
