MMDA reminder: No number coding in QC Monday

Motorists and commuters can take a breather from the number coding scheme in Quezon City on Monday, as it is a holiday there, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said.

In a post on its Twitter account Sunday, the MMDA reminded motorists that the coding scheme is lifted during holidays.

"REMINDER: No coding in Q.C tomorrow, August 19," it said.

Under Republic Act 6741, Aug. 19 is a special nonworking holiday in Quezon and Aurora provinces and in Quezon City to commemorate the birth anniversary of President Manuel Quezon.

Under the number coding scheme, motorists are barred from using major roads in Metro Manila at peak hours between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., depending on the last number of their license plates.

Covered on Monday are those with plate numbers ending in 1 and 2. — BM, GMA News
