Ateneo alum nabbed in extort try on ex-Blue Eagles star Ravena —PNP

The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group arrested Wednesday afternoon a bank employee who allegedly spread over the internet nude pictures of former Ateneo basketball star Kiefer Ravena.

The suspect was identified as Kristoffer Monico Ng, 22, like Ravena an alumnus of Ateneo.

Supt. Jay Guillermo, PNP ACG spokesperson, said the suspect, a checking officer of a bank and a resident of Pasig City, was arrested in Eastwood in Libis, Quezon City around 12:20 p.m.

Guillermo said the parents of Ravena filed a complaint before their office over the alleged nude pictures of their son.

“Nung kumalat yung photos kinausap niya (Kiefer) yung parents niya na meron siyang scandal. Ang unang nagpunta dito is the parents of the victim. Hindi namin nakita pero masyadong degrading daw yung pinapakalat na picture ng biktima,” he said.

The suspect allegedly demanded P50,000 from Ravena to withhold the supposed lewd video and photos of the basketball player.

In an interview with reporters from inside his detention cell, Ng denied the allegations.

“Hindi po ako yung nag-video, hindi po ako yung nagkalat. Hindi po ako ‘yung nagpapanggap na babae,” the suspect said while covering his head with a brown bath towel to hide his face.

He added that it was Ravena who offered the money to him in exchange of information of the person spreading his photographs.

“Inoffer n’ya (Kiefer) po ‘yun in exchange ng information sa nagkakalat po. Hindi po ‘yung nagvideo pero yung sa isang nagkakalat,” he said.

Entrapment operation

The PNP ACG conducted an initial operation against the suspect on Tuesday and gave P25,000 to determine the identity of the suspect.

Another entrapment operation was conducted Wednesday noon which led to the suspect's arrest.

Recovered from the suspect were the marked money, iPhone 7, iPhone 6 Plus, Apple watch, various identification cards, and credit cards.

Charges of robbery extortion will be filed against the suspect who is now detained at PNP ACG facility.

Guillermo said the modus operandi of the suspect is to introduce himself as a beautiful woman and entice the victim to have a chat with him.

“Ang ginagawa nila diyan nagpapakilala bilang magandang babae para maengganyo ang kausap na lalaki sa exchange of messages. Kung sa tingin ng suspek e  talagang pwede ka, yung interest mo ay nakuha nila so gagawan ka nila ng paraan na  maengganyo ka,” he said.

Ravena has been the subject of speculation the past couple of weeks over supposed leaked photos, which he has neither confirmed nor denied. —JST, GMA News
