MMDA to doctors: Show PRC licenses when flagged down for number coding violations
Medical doctors no longer need to apply for exemptions from the number coding scheme, the Metro Manila Development Authority said on Thursday.
MMDA chairman Tim Orbos said they only need to present their updated Professional Regulation Commission ID to be exempted in the expanded number coding scheme.
Orbos said doctors may show their PRC IDs when they are flagged down by traffic enforcers, especially when they are responding to emergencies.
However, Orbos is hoping that the new guidelines will not be abused by medical practitioners since they no longer need to apply for an exemption.
"We are optimistic that this new rule will not be abused by doctors and that they will be conscientious in using this privilege," Orbos said in a statement.
Under Section 5(k) of the of MMDA Memorandum Circular Number 3, medical doctors are exempted from the number coding scheme as long as they are present in the vehicle.
Aside from EDSA, the expanded number coding scheme covers all circumferential and major roads in the metropolis.
The No Window Hours policy is still effective until July, wherein the number coding scheme is extended for one hour from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Previously, motorists were allowed to travel from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. —NB, GMA News
