Cops release pics of crime scene where Carl Angelo was killed

Police on Tuesday released the photos of the crime scene in Caloocan City where 19-year-old Carl Angelo Arnaiz was killed.

On Ivan Mayrina's report on "24 Oras", one of the photos showed a man lying in a grassy lot and supposedly wearing black shirt and maong shorts.

The picture didn't show the man's face.

Another showed a .38 caliber gun, having no serial number, near the man's right hand.

The Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory earlier said Arnaiz had tested positive for gunpowder nitrates on his right hand.

The Public Attorney's Office (PAO) did not include a paraffin test on its examination of Arnaiz's body.

Based on their investigation, the teenager had been shot five times: thrice in the middle of the chest, once near the edge of the torso, and once on the arm.

PAO added that Arnaiz was tortured before he was killed as his wrists were swollen and bore handcuff marks.

His eyes were also bruised and puffy and his body bore cuts and scratches.

The Northern Police District Crime Laboratory, on the other hand, said Arnaiz was possibly shot while lying on the ground.

Arnaiz, a resident of Cainta in Rizal, went missing for 10 days before his parents found his body at a funeral home in Caloocan City on August 28.

He was reportedly killed in the wee hours of August 18.

Authorities claimed he resisted arrest after robbing taxi driver Tomas Bagcal on C3 Road in Caloocan City.

Carlito, the teenager's father, dismissed accusations that his son fought back, saying his son did not know how to use a gun, much less own one.

Policemen who were allegedly involved on the teenager's death have been relieved from their posts pending investigation of the incident. —Anna Felicia Bajo/NB, GMA News
