Arrested ex-Marilao vice mayor transferred to Parañaque City Jail

Former Marilao, Bulacan vice mayor Andre Santos became emotional during his transfer to the Parañaque City Jail, claiming there is a threat to his life, Mark Salazar reported on Balitanghali on Monday.

A contact from Parañaque reportedly sent a text message to Santos informing him that somebody from inside the city jail is ready to kill him.

Santos, who is running for mayor in the May 13 elections, was accompanied by his mother and sibling when the Bulacan police transferred him to Parañaque City Jail as ordered by the court.

In December last year, Santos had a standoff with the police officers who arrested him based on a warrant in connection with a qualified theft case filed against him by businessman and gambling operator Charlie "Atong" Ang.

Ang filed the case against Santos over his supposed unpaid gambling debt amounting to P9 million.

Santos denied the accusation. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
