SITG ‘Yulo’ looking into all angles of motive behind EDSA shooting incident

The Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) ‘Yulo’ is looking into all angles that can lead them to the possible motive behind the shooting incident on EDSA on Sunday, the Eastern Police District (EPD) director said on Tuesday.

According to EPD director Police Chief Superintendent Bernabe Balba, the SITG is still looking for more information and gathering more evidence to support their investigation into the murder of Jose Luis J. Yulo and Allan Santos and the wounding of Esmeralda Ignacio.

Initial investigation showed armed men aboard a black motorcycle on Sunday approached the vehicle of the victims, a Toyota Hi-Ace van, and fired shots at the passenger side.

Yulo sustained eight gunshot wounds in different parts of his body while driver Santos, who is also the owner of the van, sustained two gunshot wounds that resulted to their death.

The EPD – SOCO found a Colt Caliber .38 snub nose loaded with ammunition among the belongings of Yulo.

Aside from a gun from Yulo, they also found at the crime scene 12 pieces of spent shells which allegedly came from a .45 caliber firearm, and one deformed slug of a .45 caliber firearm.

Among the motives being looked into is one related to business since Yulo is a businessman, Mandaluyong Police chief Police Senior Superintendent Moises Villaceran said on Monday.

Meanwhile, the SITG is asking for the cooperation of anyone who witnessed the incident or has knowledge of the crime.

They are also seeking the cooperation of anyone who noticed the plate number of the black motorcycle of the suspects who were wearing black jackets and blue full- faced helmets along EDSA southbound, Mandaluyong City on Sunday afternoon.

Balba appealed to the public who might have taken photos or videos or have CCTV footage to coordinate with the police.

They can send their photos and videos to Villaceran at 0917-3172745. —Joviland Rita/KG, GMA News
