Pasig gov’t regularizes 109 more City Hall employees
The Pasig City Government announced on Monday the regularization of 109 more City Hall employees, bringing the total number of local government staff regularized since January 2020 to 163.
In a Facebook post, Mayor Vico Sotto said each of the 163 regularized City Hall employees had been contractual workers for at least 20 years.
“May iba, naabutan pa si Mayor Caruncho,” he said, referring to Emiliano Caruncho Jr. who was Pasig mayor from 1956 to 1986.
Sotto had earlier regularized 53 City Hall employees, including one who had been a contractual worker for 43 years.
The mayor said the regularization of employees was part of a bid to kill patronage politics in the local government.
“Walang politika; tinitingnan lang kung kwalipikado't maayos ang track record,” he said.
Sotto added that the Pasig City government is also developing a Strategic Performance Management System and other programs for professional development for local government employees. — BAP, GMA News
