Caloocan, Taguig list designated fireworks display, firecracker areas


The cities of Caloocan and Taguig announced Wednesday the community fireworks display and firecracker zones in their respective jurisdictions as they reminded residents that the use of firecrackers in non-designated areas is strictly prohibited.

In a Facebook post, Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan said the designated areas in the city are:

Barangay 67

  • Stonsenburg street (half court)
  • P. Gomez street
  • C. Cordero street (in front of Estrallado residence)
  • Bulacan street

Barangay 176

  • Phase 1 Triangle, Bagong Silang

Barangay 177

  • adjacent lot, Zapote Road, Camarin

Barangay 186

  • Maynila vacant lot,  LD Village Highway, Tala,

This is in compliance with Executive Order No. 032-22 directing barangay chairmen to identify and designate the fireworks display zone or area in their respective jurisdictions.

The mayor urged the residents to use alternative forms of noisemakers and light-emitting devices to celebrate the New Year such as horns, pots and pans, and loud sound system.

"Nakikiusap po tayo sa pakikiisa ng bawat Batang Kankaloo para sa mas ligtas at payapang pagsalubong sa taong 2024. Sa oras ng pangangailangan tumawag lamang po sa 02-888-ALONG (25664) / 09167976365 / 09477964372 para sa agarang tulong," he added.

Malapitan also warned the public not to pick firecrackers that did not explode and instead pour water on it.

He also reminded pet owners to bring their fur babies inside the house to protect them from noise caused by the revelries.

Meanwhile, the designated firecracker zones in Taguig are:

DISTRICT 1

  • Palingon - At the back of barangay hall, Pk. 1 F. Dingguin Bayan Open Court and Pk. 2 Bantayan
  • Bambang - open basketball court in Kentucky street
  • Mahogany Place 2 Block 3 Lot 2 & 4 San Dimas street
  • Wawa - barangay road and along Guerrero street
  • San Miguel - Victoria Compound basketball court in St. Michael and open basketball court near barangay hall
  • Lower Bicutan - Lakeshore Hall parking area
  • Bagumbayan - open area in front of CP Sta. Teresa Elementary School or open area at the back of barangay hall
  • Hagonoy - Hagonoy Sports Complex Parking Area (Quadrangle)
  • Napindan - Samama (Dulo) open area in Purok 5 extension Tabing Ilog, and Purok 5 (in front of Jelly Port)
  • Tuktukan - JP Rizal street

DISTRICT 2

  • South Daang Hari - Lakefront
  • Central Bicutan - Osano Park
  • Upper Bicutan - Osano Park
  • Fort Bonifacio - 5th Avenue, Bonifacio Global City (organized event only; no use of firecrackers by individuals is allowed)
  • Katuparan - open space of Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), 7th street
  • Central Signal - Zone 8 corner Ballecer street in front of Em's Elementary School
  • Zone 9 cor. Ballecer street in front of Signal Village National High School

The no firecracker zones in District 1 of Taguig are Ligid-Tipas, New Lower Bicutan, Sta. Ana, Ususan, Ibayo-Tipas, Calzada while in District 2 are North Daang Hari, North Signal, Pinagsama, South Signal, Tanyag, Western Bicutan, Maharlika.

According to GMA News Research, several cities in Metro Manila such as Marikina, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Makati, Malabon, and Mandaluyong have already approved ordinances banning fireworks and firecrackers.

In the past, aside from Caloocan City, designated areas to light up fireworks have been set up in Quezon City, Manila, Parañaque, Pasay, Pasig, and Pateros.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police has released its list of prohibited firecrackers for New Year 2024. These are:
