Registered vehicle owner in Mindanao Ave. gas-and-run identified
Authorities have identified the registered owner of the vehicle involved in a gas-and-run incident at a gas station along Mindanao Avenue, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said Wednesday.
In a press briefing, Police Station 15 commander Police Lieutenant Colonel Bryan Angelo Pajarillo said the grayish-blue sedan was identified through its plate number captured in CCTV footage.
“Verification showed that the vehicle was purchased from a car financing, from a car company in Nueva Ecija registered under a car financing company and leased to an individual identified as ‘Lyn,’” he said.
“At present, coordination is ongoing with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and other concerned offices to determine the actual driver at the time of the incident and appropriate charges will be pursued,” he added.
The car was linked to a female registered owner.
But based on witness accounts, two male suspects were inside the vehicle at the time of the incident, Pajarillo noted.
Pajarillo said police have already obtained the registered address of the vehicle owner and dispatched operatives for follow-up operations.
The vehicle has since been flagged nationwide.
Police said charges for theft are being prepared, while possible administrative sanctions, including driver’s license revocation, are also being considered.
Authorities meanwhile reminded gasoline stations to adopt preventive measures, such as installing barriers before fueling and ensuring payment first, especially in 24-hour establishments.
The QCPD also urged the public and business owners to immediately report similar incidents through emergency hotlines, including 911 and local police numbers, to ensure prompt response.
On Tuesday, the QCPD said it is searching for an unidentified male driver involved in a "gas-and-run" incident at a gasoline station along Mindanao Avenue.
The incident occurred at 3:16 a.m. Sunday in Barangay Bahay Toro.
The driver was aboard a sedan and allegedly loaded fuel worth P1,500 before fleeing without paying the cost, according to the QCPD. —VAL, GMA News
