PNoy renews appeal to public: Respect privacy of Grace Lee's family

President Benigno Aquino III on Thursday reiterated his appeal to the public to respect the privacy of radio and television personality Grace Lee’s family.

At a pulong bayan in La Consolacion College in Manila, a student asked Aquino how things are going between him and Lee.

Maayos naman,” came the bachelor president's reply.

He then narrated that Lee’s mother, who owns a grocery store, once pretended to be one of the customers just to evade those who are trying to snoop around.

Naha-harass naman po ‘yung mga tao. Wala naman po sigurong mga matutuwa kung gagawin sa atin ‘yon. Kawawa naman ‘yung mga nadadamay na nagugulo ‘yung buhay nila. Hindi naman ho dapat,” the President said.

Aquino first saw Lee at an event in Cebu last year, where the bachelor president described the TV host as "gwapa" or pretty.

Aquino made the comment when he inaugurated the KEPCO-SPC power plant in Cebu in mid-2011, an event hosted by Lee.

Aquino said: "I even mistook the Korean Grace Lee for a Filipina. Even the Koreans who visit our country are beautiful. Maybe we should revive the Malacañang sa Sugbu because we might meet our fate here.”

At the time, Lee was wearing Korean traditional attire because KEPCO is a Korean electric utility company.

The two met again in an event in Malacañang when South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak visited the Philippines in November.

In December, Lee interviewed Aquino for a radio program.
