GO wants Trillanes proclaimed on Friday
Genuine Opposition lawyer Sixto Brillantes on Thursday said they would push for the proclamation of 11th ranked senatorial candidate Antonio Trillanes IV on Friday afternoon. Brillantes, in a chance interview, said that after the canvassing of votes from Surigao del Norte, Lanao del Sur and Basilan, the National Board of Canvassers would be able see that Trillanes' ranking would no longer be affected. "I think makikita ng Comelec na hindi na aabutan si Trillanes," he said. He added the remaining issue now is only between Aquilino Pimentel III, occupying the 12th slot, and Juan Miguel Zubiri, who is at the 13th place. "In fact, wala na ngang kalaban si Trillanes, nag-concede na ang 14th, 15th, 16th. Kagabi nga pwede nang ihabol, hindi lang dumating ang Surigao del Norte at Lanao del Sur," he said. Brillantes said they already know the result of elections in the said provinces and that GO is merely waiting for canvassing. "Meron na kaming resulta. We have the party copy, so kinocompute na namin in advance," he said. He added if there's a difference between the figures they have computed and the figures which will be read during the canvassing, they would question it. In the latest official canvass report of the Comelec, Trillanes has already received 10,977,680 votes while Pimentel got 10,656050. Zubiri, who is in the 13th place, has 10,542,036. Comelec records show that Basilan has 181,447 registered voters while Lanao del Sur has 396,800 and Surigao del Norte 261,735. The same records show Maguindanao has 337,108 registered voters. The NBC will continue with its session at the Comelec main office in Intramuros, Manila starting Friday. The canvassing of votes for senatorial candidates will be around 10 a.m. while the party-list votes would be canvassed at 2 p.m.. - GMANews.TV
