El Shaddai endorses Binay, Bongbong, 12 Senate bets
Catholic charismatic group El Shaddai announced Friday that it will be supporting the presidential bid of Vice President Jejomar Binay and Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for vice president.
The announcement was made over the religious group's radio station dwXI.
According to the anchor, the decision was made after a survey conducted among their members.
"Mga kapatid, ito po ay galing sa ating mahal na pinuno. Ito ay galing sa ating internal survey. Ating iginagalang ang pinili ng karamihan at ito na ang ating pagkakaisahang iboto sa Lunes, May 9, 2016," anchors Raffy delos Reyes and Rey Vargas said.

Binay expressed his gratitude to the members of the El Shaddai for supporting him.
"I am grateful and humbled by the endorsement of the members of El Shaddai and to Bro. Mike Velarde for giving me the opportunity to speak before his congregation," Binay said in a press statement.
He pledged to be a president who "recognizes, respects and follows the word of God."
"Iaalay ko ang isang pamumuno na kumikilala, gumagalang, at tumatalima sa salita ng Panginoon," he said.
He further said it will be a presidency that "respects the dignity of women, will set a good example for our children, and gives dignity to the poor."
"Yan po ang pamumuno na ibinigay ko sa Makati at aking ibibigay sa ating bansa," he said.
In an earlier statement, Binay spoke of a "serious challenge to our deeply held Christian values."
"I speak of a choice between good and evil. I speak of a choice between those who advocate life and those who promote death," he said.
Binay said he is praying "that the Holy Spirit will once again move our people to the path of the just and the righteous."
"That the Lord will guide our people towards the path of good, towards a road that leads us to greater, stronger respect for the sanctity of life - and thus, for leaders who are committed to breaking the cycle of violence prevalent in our nation," he said.
"That is why I stand firm in my belief that violence as a platform of governance oppresses the poor, the dispossessed, and the powerless," he said.
"What we need is compassion and a genuine dedication to put an end to poverty. And we do not end poverty by killing the poor. We end poverty by giving them jobs, food, shelter and dignity," he added. — APG, GMA News
