Sueno tells ‘ninja cops’ to resign or be sacked from posts

Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno on Tuesday told police officers linked to illegal drug operations to resign from the service or be dismissed.

Sueno made the remark after kidnapping convict and confessed drug dealer Jaybee Sebastian linked the recent riot inside the New Bilibid Prison to the involvement of ninja cops in the drug trade.

Ninja cops is a derogatory term referring to police officers who deal illegal drugs, usually those that are seized in anti-drug operations.

“Umalis na kayo. Get out of the PNP. Kasi alam namin ang mga actuations ninyo at saka kung talagang it is proven that you are linked, we will dismiss you,” Sueno said when asked on what he would do with the policemen innvolved in drugs.

He said charges would be filed against police officers involved in illegal drugs and this will eventually lead to their dismissal.

“We will file criminal charges against them and dismiss them,” he said.

At the House justice committee hearing on the alleged proliferation of illegal drugs inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), Sebastian said the incident inside the maximum security compound last month was conducted to prevent him from testifying against another convict, former Chief Inspector Clarence Dongail, and the ninja cops.

Sueno said the DILG had a list of police officers involved in illegal drugs and was already acting on it.

“May listahan kami ng mga pulis na nasasangkot sa droga and we are really seriously acting on this. Malalaman n’yo na lang din yan kung ano ang nagawa namin," Sueno said.

He said PNP chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa was strictly implementing the administration’s campaign against illegal drugs even on police officers

“Si Bato (Dela Rosa’s nickname) ay istrikto lalo na kung may mga pulis na nasasangkot. He is very strict on his people being involved into drugs,” Sueno said. —NB, GMA News
