Dayan, Espinosa, Espenido allow Senate panel to check phone records

Ronnie Dayan, Kerwin Espinosa, and Chief Inspector Jovie Espenido on Monday agreed to issue waivers to allow the Senate public order committee to scrutinize their cellphone records.

During the Senate hearing, Senator Richard Gordon asked Dayan if they can subpoena his cellphone records to check his supposed phone conversations with Espinosa, former Bureau of Corrections officer-in-charge Rafael Ragos, and director Franklin Jesus Bucayu.

“May we subpoena records of the telephone of Ronnie Dayan, if he would give us his telephone number, at the time he was making and taking calls from Kerwin and all the calls that he made while he was there with Bucayu and with Ragos. Limit it to the times that those calls were made,” he said.

Senator Panfilo Lacson, chairman of the committee on public order and dangerous drugs, said it would be better for Dayan, Espinosa, and Espenido to just issue a waiver.

“Para lang yung telcos walang issue, hingan natin sila ng waiver. Are you willing to execute a waiver? Pinapayagan n’yo na kunin namin sa telcos iyon lang period na pinag uusapan natin dito,” he said.

“Pipirma lang kayo na pinapayagan n'yo yung committee na kunin sa telcos, sa Globe o sa Smart  yung calls logs ninyo sa  oras na pinag uusapan,” he added.

Kerwin said he is “100 percent OK,” the same with Espenido. Dayan also answered in the affirmative. —ALG, GMA News
