Bato dela Rosa orders relief of Angeles City police chief 

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa on Wednesday ordered the relief of newly-assigned Angeles City police chief Senior Supt. Jose Hidalgo Jr. 

But in a text message to GMA News Online, Region 3 police director Chief Supt. Aaron Aquino said no reason was given for the relief of Hidalgo.

“Yes (PNP chief Dela Rosa ordered the relief), no reason given,” Aquino said.

He said Senior Supt. Patrick Villacorte from the Directorate for Intelligence has been tapped to take over the post.

“Officer in charge si Villacorte pero later in gagawin siyang permanent sa post,” he said.

Hidalgo has only been in his post for seven days. He previously replaced Senior Supt. Sidney Villaflor who was sacked over the involvement of his men in the robbery-extortion on South Korean tourists last December.

Aquino said Hidalgo was assigned back to Camp Olivas. — RSJ, GMA News
