Like war on drugs, Kiko fears revolutionary gov’t will be ‘abusive’

Opposition Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan on Monday said a revolutionary government will be “abusive” like the Duterte administration’s war on drugs.

Pangilinan made the statement after President Rodrigo Duterte said he would declare a revolutionary government if supposed "destabilization" attempts by his critics continue.

“Just like the excessively abusive war against drugs, rev gov will be abusive as well… Stop the illegal and dictatorial rev gov, now!” the senator said.

Pangilinan further said that a revolutionary government and dictatorship “are one and the same.”

“No more democracy, freedom of the press and freedom of speech. No more safety in life and livelihood from corrupt police officials. No more elections because there will only be term extension for incumbents and appointments to the obsequious in politics,” he said.

“No more hindrance to sell our lands and seas to China. Those who oppose will be imprisoned so that no one can express dissent to wrongdoings,” Pangilinan added.

He said such government will result in “unparalleled abuse, killings, and corruption.”

No support

Senator Panfilo Lacson, a former national police chief, said he’d rather not take the President’s words seriously.

“Even the military and defense establishments already said their piece they will not support a revolutionary government. So who will? Wala. The Filipino people will never support a revolutionary government lalo kung walang people’s revolution na nangyayari,” Lacson said in an interview.

“I don’t think he’s serious na para, at nagsalita ang military. Sino mag-implement ng revolutionary government or government under revolutionary form kung wala ang Armed Forces?” he said.
