Mon Tulfo says brother Erwin’s rant vs. Bautista is wrong

Special envoy to China Ramon Tulfo on Sunday said that his brother Erwin’s rant against Department of Social Welfare and Development (DWSD) Secretary Rolando Bautista was wrong.

“It was wrong, referring to Erwin,” Tulfo said in an interview on CNN Philippines.

He added that he is also to blame, saying that as the head of the family, he became negligent in advising his brothers to slow down.

“My father was a respected military man and he taught us to respect authority. Along the way perhaps, we could not handle success,” Mon said.

Erwin on Monday apologized to Bautista for his rant last week against the retired military general.

His diatribe prompted the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association, Inc. to file cases against radio broadcaster.

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) also stripped the Tulfo brothers of their security escorts.

The eldest Tulfo was condemned by labor groups earlier this year when he described Filipino workers as lazy and slow compared to the Chinese.

A third Tulfo brother, Ben, received backlash after it was discovered that the Department of Tourism paid his production outfit P60 million to air its ads on one of its shows—a scandal that resulted in the resignation of yet another Tulfo sibling, former Tourism Secretary Wanda Teo. — Joviland Rita/BM, GMA News
