House mourns passing of LPGMA party-list Rep. Rodolfo Albano Jr.

Lawmakers from the House of Representatives are mourning the passing of their colleague, LPGMA party-list Representative Rodolfo Albano Jr., who died of heart failure on Tuesday evening.

In a statement Wednesday, House Majority Leader Martin Romualdez said Albano's death is a "great loss" to Congress and all the people who know him.

"Manong Rudy Albano, our former House Majority Leader, is a man of integrity, compassion, strength and exemplary deeds," Romualdez said.

"I offer our great respect and gratitude for Manong Rudy’s unwavering dedication and sincere service to our nation until the very end," he added.

Romualdez also offered his sympathies and prayers to the Albano family.

For his part, Deputy Speaker Michael Romero, president of the 54-member Party-list Coalition, also expressed his sadness over the passing of Albano on behalf of the group's members.

"Our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and to the LPGMA Party-list. Rep. Albano was one of our most senior members and one of the longest serving legislators we all respect so much," he said.

"We, the whole family of the Partylist Coalition bloc, will miss his energy and cheerful disposition as a colleague on the advancement of the causes of the poor and marginalized sectors of our country," he added.

According to Isabela Governor Rodito Albano III, his father will be interred at Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City starting Wednesday. There will also be a memorial service at the House of Representatives on Thursday.

Albano's remains will then be flown back to Isabela for his final resting place in Cabagan town. — Erwin Colcol/RSJ, GMA News
